About Patrick McMahon

As an artist, Patrick McMahon’s primary medium is photography. With his diverse background in art, writing, music, and engineering, he is able to approach creative expression from a range of viewpoints. Born in Chicago, raised there and in Missouri, he has resided in San Diego since 1999. His memoir, Becoming Patrick, was a San Diego Book Awards Finalist and is currently available worldwide. He plays in two music groups: the Hillcrest Wind Ensemble and the Heliotrope Ragtime Orchestra. His photo work has been exhibited nationally for twenty-five years and featured in numerous group and solo shows. He has also conducted expressive arts seminars throughout the country.

His recent work explores the universal through the macro lens. Extreme close-ups when enlarged become expressions of his soul, and for the observer, windows into other worlds.
